LSU Student Media Journalists Win 15 Awards for Journalism Excellence

Reveille Students, April 2023BATON ROUGE鈥擲tudents from LSU Student Media outlets took home 15 awards for journalism excellence in the 2022 Region 12 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) competition.

Among the awards were four winning pieces from Tiger TV in Television Feature Reporting, Television General News Reporting, Television In-Depth Reporting and Television Sports Reporting; two winning pieces from the LSU Manship School News Service in In-Depth Reporting (Large, 10K+ students) and Feature Writing (Large, 10K+ students); and one winning piece from the Reveille in General Column Writing (Large, 10K Students).

LSU鈥檚 Manship School of Mass Communication proudly recognizes the following Tiger TV, KLSU, Reveille and Manship News Service student journalists who earned 2022 SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards:

SPJ鈥檚 Region 12 represents Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee schools. First-place winners will compete at the national level among other MOE winners from the 12 SPJ regions later this spring.

LSU Student Media provides media experiences to students through The Reveille newspaper,, and The Reveille mobile app; Tiger TV; KLSU-FM radio; and the Gumbo yearbook. All four outlets are led and staffed by students, supported by professionals, and provide real-world experience for aspiring broadcasters, program directors, writers, editors, photographers and videographers, web producers, designers and others. is at the heart of the experiential journalism program 星空无限传媒鈥檚 Manship School of Mass Communication. In the spring, our students cover the Louisiana Legislature for 90 news outlets around the state. In the fall, we do in-depth stories about racial and criminal justice for state and national news sites. Students in the LSU Cold Case Project dig into unsolved Ku Klux Klan murders, while students in our In-Depth Reporting classes publish stories on a variety of other issues. We distribute our stories through the LSU Manship School News Service.
