LSU鈥檚 Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College was selected by The Viewpoint Project to be featured in their upcoming segment 鈥淟eaders in the Future of Higher Education and the Role of the Honors College.鈥�

Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid is an award-winning, short-form educational documentary series. Viewpoint鈥檚 goal is to enlighten audiences, by delivering diverse informational and educational documentaries for Public Television, on a variety of important issues, topics, trends impacting the world.

The Ogden Honors College will make its national debut in a 60-second commercial produced by The Viewpoint Project on Fox Business Network on Thursday, Sept. 23 to highlight the college鈥檚 interdisciplinary curriculum and co-curricular opportunities including undergraduate research, public service, internships, and study abroad.

鈥淚 am excited for the opportunity to showcase the Ogden Honors College as a national leader in honors college education,鈥� said Ogden Honors College Dean Jonathan Earle. 鈥淚 want the best students from anywhere in the world to know they can come here and get the quality in-person attention of a liberal arts college with the resources of a Tier 1 research institution, for a fraction of the cost.鈥�

The mini documentary 鈥� the core of the project 鈥� will air on Public Television later in the month. The documentary opens with the fundamental question, 鈥淲hat is an honors college?鈥� It looks at the value of an honors education, explores how an honors education is different from a traditional undergraduate experience, and highlights the varying ways honors students demonstrate success throughout their undergraduate careers. 

鈥淭he students featured in the commercial and documentary are just a few shining examples of the unique educational opportunities students can have 星空无限传媒 and in the Honors College. We are not piling on reading assignments or papers; we are creating an environment where they can discuss, debate, and explore compelling topics. We are giving them the resources to go out and start a program for childhood literacy or to capture the stories of people living on a disappearing Louisiana coastline,鈥� says Earle. The Honors academic path prepares students to grapple with issues, meet and conquer challenges, and achieve professional success and accomplished leadership.
