Gartia Joins Royal Society of Chemistry

BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Manas Gartia has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The society, based in London, has 54,000 members across the world and serves as a champion for the chemical sciences. It connects scientists with one another, and society as a whole, so that they can produce their best work and make discoveries and innovation happen. The society publishes new research; develops, recognizes, and celebrates professional capabilities; and supports teachers to inspire future generations of scientists.

“It's a true honor to be named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry,” Gartia said. “This recognition reflects the incredible teamwork of the diverse research group I lead ǿ޴ý. Receiving this distinction from the RSC validates the importance of our work in pushing the boundaries of Raman spectroscopy within the field of chemical sciences and biology.”

Gartia holds a Ph.D. in nuclear, plasma, and radiological engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his research focuses on providing solutions to practical challenges in energy, healthcare, and environmental industry while simultaneously working to advance basic science and engineering.
